JR Norman was a physicist and professional concert piano tuner. His methodical mind, eternally striving to challenge and refine, began to observe a grand injustice. The supposedly master-built pianos he worked with were poor; for their imprecise construction, and inadequate sound. He set out to do better. In 1975, Mr. Norman founded 1066 Pianos. With an affinity for musicianship and a passion for perfection, he embraced the artisanship of traditional piano-making, with the meticulousness of a true scientist. Where other makers were set in their ways, 1066 led with innovation and Mr Norman quickly proved the sceptics wrong, engineering some of the finest-sounding and most articulately built masterpieces the piano world had ever seen.
